You can’t start off any contender piece without mentioning the Green Bay Packers, who are firm favorites to be representing the conference in the Super Bowl at season’s end.
Led by QB Aaron Rodgers and a highly dangerous supporting cast, the Packers are listed at +315 to win the NFC title.
There are two teams tied behind Green Bay and that would be the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, both of whom are at +640 in the football odds.
Michael Vick has vowed that the Eagles are about to become a dynasty and based strictly off talent it’s not too crazy of a claim. For the 49ers, they’ll again lean on a strong running game revolving around Frank Gore, as well as the top performing defense from last season.
There are a host of other contenders in the mix too, starting with the defending champion New York Giants. Eli Manning dramatically improved last season and there’s no reason to think the Giants will suddenly fall off the map. They’re at +925 on the NFL odds board to win the conference championship.
Following that top four there’s a group of five teams that could do quite a bit of damage.
The New Orleans Saints (+1100), Atlanta Falcons (+1200), Chicago Bears (+1200), Dallas Cowboys (+1250), and Detroit Lions (+1300) are going to have winning seasons and one of these teams could very easily get hot at the right time and make a deep run in the playoffs.
And those, ladies and gentlemen, are your favorites in the NFC this coming season. Start preparing now: Week 1 will be here before you know it.
