NFL Week 1: Bills vs Jets

SBRForum July 30, 2012 0

One of the Week 1 divisional battles will feature an AFC East game between the Jets and Bills. The NFL odds favor the Jets here at home by -3 ½, and both of these teams have to get off to a good start if they want a chance of making the playoffs. They both will be looking up to the Patriots, who are the odds on favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. So, who do you think will win this cross-state battle in Week 1?

The Bills started hot last season, but fell apart after a 4-1 start. The Jets on the other hand were streakier than a bad glass cleaner. Of all of their wins and losses in their 8-8 season, they never had two weeks where they went 1-1.

This season, the Jets have brought in Tim Tebow to run the wildcat, after their former focal point, Brad Smith is in Buffalo now. This should be a very good game, as both teams have talented offenses. The winner of this game will be the team with the best defense.

We all know how good the Jets’ defense is, but the Bills have been working on improving theirs. They added Mario Williams, who will cause nightmares for any offensive tackle and quarterback, and they drafted the second best corner in the draft in Stephon Gilmore.

For this game, I’m not putting too much stock in the Jets. They didn’t make the playoffs last season, and I don’t think they will again. I’m not saying the Bills will make the postseason, nor do I think they are a better team than the Jets. However, I think taking points with Buffalo in this one is the way to go.
