The Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins went to the White House today. Well, most of them did.
The Boston Bruins were at the White House on Monday afternoon, celebrating their 2011 Stanley Cup win with the President of the United States, Barack Obama. In his speech, the President personally noted the accomplishments of goaltender Tim Thomas, who put together the best statistical season by a goalie in NHL history during the B’s Cup run.
Thomas wasn’t there to hear the gesture, however. He skipped the visit, a decision that’s apparently based on his political beliefs.
That’s classy. Thomas, who’s apparently a “real American,” and one of only two US born Bruins, has decided to disrespect both the office of the President and his teammates.
Remember when former Packer Mark Chmura refused to meet Bill Clinton after winning the Superbowl, because Clinton was morally corrupt? And then later.. Chmura got arrested for trying to rape a high school girl in a hot tub after HER PROM?
I can’t wait till Tim Thomas does something like that. We’ll all be watching.

Looks like I should have made Boston Tea Party joke when I headlined this post. Here’s Thomas’s explanation for skipping the White House visit:
“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.
This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.
This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT”
