2010 World Cup Gambling: Day 8

My pick for Day 1 didn’t pan out, so I decided to take some time off to get a feel for the teams before I made my next foray into the World Cup gambling ring.

So let us take a look at the slate of Friday’s games starting with Germany v Serbia. Led by the likes of Thomas Muller, Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose the Germans are a tough matchup for any backline, even the Beli Orlovi. Let us just say that Nemanja Vidic is going to have his hands full for 90 minutes plus tomorrow.

The United States need a victory tomorrow against Slovenia. If they don’t win, their chances of reaching the Final 16 will be pretty slim if not completely gone. Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey have to be able to counter when Slovenia presses forward. This isn’t the 2006 USA team. If they replicate the effort they showed against England a victory is so within reach.

Lastly, a England squad thought to be the best in the group take on the worst side in Algeria. Should it really even be that close? The Three Lions are hungry to get back on the pitch after their showing against the Americans. With the return of Gareth Barry can someone say blowout city! If handicapping games could be this easy, sports betting would be a breeze.

Pick: Parlay – Germany (-150),  USA (+115), and England (-370) ties lose. 1 unit wins 3.55 units

Record: 0-1, minus 1 unit
