It is official. Carrie Underwood beats Hilary Duff in the race to see which NHL star will put a ring on it. As the Toronto Sun reports:

“Senators heartthrob Mike Fisher and his country singer superstar girlfriend Carrie Underwood are engaged to be married.

Fisher confirmed their engagement just moments ago as the Senators prepared for tonight’s game against the Boston Bruins at Scoriabank Place.

“It’s true,” said Fisher. “We’re both obviously excited and very happy.”

Rumor is he proposed at his home. Congratulations!

So week 15 of the NFL season was pretty exciting

Posted on 21 December 2009 by King Ing

I pretty much thought nothing would top the Sunday we had a couple weekends ago, but boy was I wrong. We got a little bit of everything. From Ben Roethlisberger finding Mike Wallace as time expired to the poor Raiders defensive lineman losing his pants.

San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose Get Pissed Off At Each Other

Posted on 19 December 2009 by California Correspondent

googlemapsThe Bay Area is getting all worked up over the Oakland A’s and their plans to move their stadium to San Jose. The City of San Francisco is threatening to sue MLB over alleged property rights. The Mercury News says it would take a vote of three-quarters of baseball’s owners to terminate the Giants’ territorial rights and allow the A’s to move to San Jose.

At the same time, Oakland doesn’t want the A’s to leave, so they’re considering a lawsuit against San Jose and the A’s organization.

What’s next? Is San Jose going to sue Oakland for trying to block the team’s move? Or maybe San Francisco will sue Oakland because it sucks over there.

Deadspin seeks unpaid staff for internships

Posted on 19 December 2009 by California Correspondent

school-girls-interns

I know it’s tough out there for journalists and bloggers, with ad rates down and all, but I thought Deadspin could at least pay their staff for moderating comments. Instead they’re looking for unpaid college interns to do the dirty work.

If you’re interested in the internship, they ask for a bio, resume, commenter username. If I were going to hire interns, I’d also ask for photos, so I could narrow it down to the cute girls at least. And I wouldn’t limit the job to just moderating comments — I’m ask them to get my coffee and write some damn posts too. Oh yeah, and we’d have a strict dress code like above.

$300m Over/Under for Tiger’s Divorce Settlement

Posted on 18 December 2009 by California Correspondent

Here’s the $300 over/under for the Tiger Woods divorce settlement on Bodog. While we actually think he’ll end up paying under $300m, it would be great to have him pay obscenely more — if only so that every twist and turn of this story is wild and unpredictable.

Does this make Jessica Simpson smarter than me?

Posted on 18 December 2009 by California Correspondent

Jessica Simpson wouldn’t get with Tiger Woods because she knew he got around. Since I didn’t know that, does it make Jessica Simpson smarter than me?

Elena Gómez takes you into the weekend

Portugal FHM was gracious enough to bring us photos of Elena Gómez, a Spanish gymnast. Too bad chicks didn’t look like this when I was learning to forward roll.

Darko will F your mother, but from Europe, not the US

Posted on 17 December 2009 by California Correspondent

Darko Milicic is no longer activated for the Knicks. The #2 pick from the 2002 draft is taking his chips and heading home.

He told the NY Post, “Whatever happens, I’m going back next year. It’s 100-percent certain. I have to be real and not lie. I’m not going to get it done in the NBA. I’m not going to get another opportunity and there’s nothing wrong with going back to Europe.” But what he really meant to say was, “F*** all you stupid Americans, especially you  D’Antoni. I’ll f*** your mother in her <redacted>. If you have a daughter, I’ll f*** her too.” Oh wait, déjà vu

Naturally Ronaldinho is the best

Posted on 17 December 2009 by King Ing

As a huge fan of the EA Sports FIFA games, I naturally got a kick out of their new promo for FIFA 10. The video shows some of the biggest stars in todays game blindfolded while trying to play keepy uppy; with Bastian Schweinsteiger, Karim Benzema, and Theo Walcott among them. But of course leave it to the Brazilian and player of the decade Ronaldinho to be the best at it.

Could he see thru the blindfold? Probably
