Last week wasn’t a great week in college football as I had my first losing Saturday of the year. Although it was only a half a unit loss I came back with 3 big winners in the NFL (9 units). Hopefully I pick up the stride on Halloween to give me some more cash to spend on candy. (These picks are for entertainment purposes only)
Cincinnati v Syracuse 12PM
Tony Pike is likely out again, meaning the controls of the Bearcats offense is handed over to Zach Collaros. In all honesty it doesn’t matter who runs the offense (40 ppg) as they have exceptional playmakers in both the ground and the passing game. Isaiah Pead will hurt you on the ground, while Mardy Gilyard and Armon Binns beat you in the air. The ‘Cuse defense is giving up 27 ppg and has a ton of trouble stopping the pass. Mix that up with an underrated Cincy defense and you give the points and count the money.
Pick – Cincinnati -15 2 units
California v Arizona St 3:30PM
After getting blown out by USC, the Golden Bears are finding their stride against lesser competition. Enter Arizona St and their No. 6 ranked defense against the run. Unfortunately for the Sun Devils it is their offense that can’t seem to get on target, while Kevin Riley of Cal has been great throwing for 6 TD’s over the last 2 games. That means teams can’t stuff 7-8 men in the box to stop Jahvid Best and Shane Vereen.
Look for Riley to get the pass game going early, opening up running lanes for Best in the end
Pick – California -6.5 2 units
Georgia v Florida 3:30PM
Tim Tebow has been very vocal about his displeasure with the Gator offense. You know what that means. Florida is going to flex its muscles this weekend at the worlds largest cocktail party. Did I mention the No. 1 ranked defense gets Brandon Spikes back. As much as I personally hate Florida, everything points to a blowout here.
Pick – Florida -14.5 1 unit
Washington St v Notre Dame 7:30PM
The Cougars are the worst ranked defense in the Pac 10 giving up 500 yards to opposing offenses. Jimmy Clausen must be licking his lips thinking about this game. He is going to pile up those Heisman numbers in the Alamodome.
Meanwhile the ND pass defense is one of the worst in the country coming in at 117th. Wash St will be trailing and throwing most of the game. What does all this add up to?
Pick – ND/Wash St Over 61 3 units
USC v Oregon 8PM
The Pac-10 title is probably on the line in this game. I have learned over the years to never bet against USC when a Rose Bowl bid is up for grabs. Gut feeling here.
Pick – USC -3 3 units
Record: 18-11-1 +25 units
