In a surprising twist, Alexei Semenov, who had agreed to a $600,000 one year contract on Wednesday—as did his agent—were overruled by Semenov’s wife, GM Glen Sather said, adding that Semenov has tears in his eyes. Semenov told Newsday before the morning skate that he didn’t think a deal would happen, and would possibly play in Russia, where his wife is living.
