Sonia Sotomayor’s Senate confirmation hearings start next week. A number of witnesses will be testifying both for and against her nomination to the Supreme Court.
Democrats’ witnesses include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former FBI Director Louis Freeh, and former Major League Baseball pitcher David Cone.
Well, it actually makes sense. As a judge, Sotomayor’s decision prevented the owners from bringing in replacement players to begin the 1995 season, essentially ending the players strike. Cone was a major figure in the MLBPA at that time.
