And Then There’s This

A few weeks ago, we caught up with former Yankee Kevin Maas, who is doing very well for himself in his post-baseball life.

Well, today, we catch up with Maas’s former teammate, Mel Hall, who is doing, umm, considerably less well:

Mel Hall, a former Major League outfielder, was sentenced to 45 years in jail following a conviction of raping a 12-year-old and sexually abusing or inappropriately touching three girls, according to The Associated Press.

Hall, 48, was sentenced by a Tarrant County (Texas) jury on Wednesday and received 40 years for aggravated sexual assault and five years for indecency.

Everything I’ve ever heard about Mel Hall is that he was a terrible guy, whose constant needling was one of the reasons it took Bernie Williams so long to reach his potential as a Major Leaguer.

Obviously, those reports were incorrect. He is far worse than a terrible guy. I’m sure the general prison population in Tarrant County will pick up where the Justice System was forced to stop, and deliver the proper punishment.
