Forget baseball, UCONN and S Florida battle on the dancefloor

Posted on 22 May 2009 by King Ing

What a way to wake up in the morning. Thanks to The Sporting Blog for pointing out the greatest video ever! Maybe not ever, but the best video since I woke up. Things must get really boring during a rain delay as both UCONN and South Florida lost their minds in a good way and decided to have a dance off.

Whoever was controlling the music might have built the greatest mixtape ever, or at least copied it from any awesome wedding DJ. It was like hit after hit. How do you not dance?

And in the immortal words of Omarion, UCONN “you just got served.”

At The Quarter Poll

The Major League season is just about one fourth of the way thru, but I’m impatient. So, here are what I believe should be the All Star rosters for both the American and National Leagues thus far:

Kobe Bryant shows Lebron James that he is unstoppable

Posted on 21 May 2009 by King Ing

Nike is really hoping for a Lakers v Cavaliers NBA Finals. That way they can constantly run these Kobe Bryant and Lebron James muppet ads.

Here is the latest installment where KB24 gives video evidence of his greatness. LBJ’s polo is hot!

Wonder if Reggie Bush taught Kim Kardashian that

Posted on 21 May 2009 by King Ing

It is nice to see that the life of Kim Kardashian isn’t that stressful. The day after her new Miami clothing store was vandalized, KK was on the beach tossing the football around. Reggie Bush must be proud of the form.

2009 NFL Over/Unders

Posted on 21 May 2009 by King Ing

nfltotalsnfltotals1

The 2009 NFL over/unders have been released and there are some interesting lines. As expected the New England Patriots top the number with 11.5 wins and the Detroit Lions bring in the low number with a O/U of 5.

An over that I really like is Tennessee at 9. Seems like such a low number for a team that brings virtually everyone back, except for Albert Haynseworth. Remember the Titans won 13 games in a row last year. Another over that seems too good to be true is the Arizona Cardinals at 8.5. Does Boldin’s status mean that much to the defending NFC Champs. They play in the leagues worst division, shouldn’t that pretty much be five wins right there?

Some other overs that seem attractive are the Steelers, Bears, and Houston. Why doesn’t Vegas just not move the line up/down a .5 win instead of charging such high juice lines?

And as far as unders go my favorite one might be the Oakland Raiders. What do you guys think?

The Orlando Magic broke more than the shot clock

Posted on 21 May 2009 by King Ing

Count me among the people that thought the Orlando Magic had no shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in this series. The Cavs were too hot and the Stan Van Gundy’s just came off a grueling series with the Celtics. But I seemed to forget that no one on Cleveland can guard Hedo and Rashard Lewis. I mean Lebron can guard one, but he isn’t that great where he can cover both at the same time.

And how soft is Big Z. I mean he makes Adam Lambert look tough. (How did he lose American Idol anyways. Probably better because most of the winners of that show just get dropped by their labels a year later).

After the LBJ dunk/block on Dwight Howard/nail a three pointer scenario, I thought the Magic would just pack it in. But as the video shows there is no quit in this Orlando team. And now that I say all this you can lock it up, Cleveland easily covers Game 2 of this series.

Noonan!

Posted on 20 May 2009 by Justin

You may remember that Andrew Giuliani, the apparently dickish son of noted dick and former failed Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani, tried to sue Duke University after he was thrown off the golf team.  He claimed there was something untoward happening. The University claimed they were cutting the number of scholarships and so they were dropping the lesser players. Also, Andrew apparently threw an apple at someone.

Well, today, a judge tossed the case, and he did it in style! If you’re going to rule on a golf-related lawsuit, obviously, you’re going to quote “Caddy Shack” while doing it:

“He said the plaintiff’s argument had been misplaced. Dixon stated that it “brings to mind [Bill Murray's famed character] Carl Spackler’s analysis” from “Caddyshack.”

“He’s on his final hole. He’s about 455 yards away, he’s gonna hit about a 2 iron, I think.”

I love this judge! The entire ruling is full of forced golf references. Its like watching Gene Shalit review a movie, except better, because its the law!

What Happens Now?

Posted on 20 May 2009 by Justin

Michael Vick is almost a free man. He’s out of jail and will spend the next two months in home confinement in Virginia. His agent says Vick would like to play in the NFL this year, but will put football on the back burner while he finishes serving out his sentence for promoting dog fighting.

Now, how will he be welcomed back into the public eye? The best case scenario is that he makes a public statement expressing his regret and contrition, pledges to work with animal rights groups, and becomes a generally great guy who’s an asset to the team and city where he ultimately ends up.

But what if the opposite takes place?

The NBA digitally enhances some Amazing Finals Moments

Posted on 20 May 2009 by King Ing

We have all seen the incredible digitally enhanced commercials featuring Larry Bird stealing the ball and the Kobe to Shaq alley-oop. Well leave it to the NBA to have another two ads up its sleeve promoting the upcoming Finals. This Magic Johnson hookshot over McHale, Bird, and Parrish still hurts to watch.
