Food Wars: Citi Field v the new Yankee Stadium

Posted on 24 March 2009 by King Ing

So when I first heard about the new Yankee Stadium’s list of concessions, I thought there was no way that they could compete with that of Citi Field.

Was the braintrust behind the Bronx Bombers really serious about having Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, Johnny Rockets burgers, Brother Jimmy’s BBQ, and “Boar’s Head made-to-order” deli sandwiches as their featured items. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with them. But were they actually going to let the Mets show them up with their roster of Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, and belgium fries?

I should have never underestimated the Yankees. Today they announced something that trounces anything that the Union Square Hospitality Group could come up with.

The new Yankee Stadium will “have separate restaurants and dining areas for their exclusive enjoyment. In the Legends Suite Club, the food will be prepared at open cooking stations run, from time to time, by Masaharu Morimoto, April Bloomfield of the Spotted Pig and chefs from Le Cirque.

Are they f’n kidding me! Someone sign me up.

Oh, are you telling me it’s only open to the 4,000 or so premium seats, with prices ranging up to $2.500. Guess I will never see that dream come to reality.

Lebron James, will you be my friend?

Posted on 24 March 2009 by King Ing

lebron-james

Page Six tells us about another athlete going to M2 Ultra Lounge and being more than grateful for the service he received.

Lebron James drinking water at M2 and leaving a huge tip after picking up the tab for his entourage of eight, including Nets star Vince Carter.”

Whatever Kobe Bryant can do, LBJ can do better!

I am telling you, M2 must be raking in the cash hand over fist. Whether it be a musician or athlete, someone is always spending. I need to live this lifestyle.

Shooter McGavin ain’t a player, he just crushes a lot

Posted on 24 March 2009 by King Ing

It is still great to see Christopher McDonald, also known as Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore recognized by fans. Actually, after checking IMDB the man remains pretty relevant as he has had a role on possibly every television show on the air. I think he is only missing Heroes and 24 on his resume.

During his downtime it looks like he travels the celebrity golf circuit and cheeses it up with the fans, especially the female ones.

What do you get when you combine long time pals Peyton Manning and Kenny Chesney with a band and a bunch of partying people? You get a rip roaring good time that is what. The two duet on “You Never Even Called Me By My Name” by David Allen Coe at Sloppy Joe’s in Key West.

Armstrong breaks collarbone, goes silent on Twitter

Posted on 23 March 2009 by California Correspondent

lancearmLance crashed today while racing at the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon in Spain, breaking his collarbone and putting him out of the racing circuit for at least 4-6 weeks.

Armstrong’s Twitter account has been silent for almost 24 hours, which leads to one of two possibilities: (1) he was trying to send a twitter message as he crashed (and lost his blackberry in the process), or (2) his right arm is in a sling and he can’t type lefty.

This photo of him leaving the hospital leads me to believe the second scenario is most probable — but I still like to think that he was trying to send a twitter update as he crashed.

Korea and Japan wage war tonight in LA

Posted on 23 March 2009 by California Correspondent

yakuza-gang-photoLast night Roy Oswalt and Team USA got the TKO from Tokyo, as Dice-K (miraculously) gave up only two runs to the Americans — leading Japan to a 9-4 victory and a ticket to the finals vs. Korea.

Tonight Japan and Korea wage war at Dodger Stadium for the WBC finale, as Japan defends it’s title (and their honor).

While there is longstanding tension between Korea and Japan — there are also a huge number of Asian gangs in the LA-area that could attend tonight’s game. According to Streetgangs.com, there are up to 30 Asian gangs in Los Angeles. While I would be scared to sit next to a member of the “Last Generation Korean Killers” and the “White Dragons” — I would be happy to share my armrest at Dodger stadium with a member of the “Oriental Lazy Boys” or “Korean Play Boys”.

If you are attending the game tonight, stay safe, and avoid dudes with full body tattoos and white jockstrap type underwear.

And who doesn’t. I see that Shaquille O’Neal prefers the straight vanilla cone over my personal favorite, the Heath Bar Crunch Blizzard.

What organization is it?

Posted on 23 March 2009 by King Ing

congress

NBA or NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits, and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving

Can you guess which organization this is?

NBA or NFL?

Neither,

It’s the 435 members of the United States Congress. The same people we trust to make laws every year have problems abiding by the ones already in place.
