The Oscars bring out the best in everyone

Posted on 23 February 2009 by King Ing

“Boom goes the Dynamite!” The phrase uttered by Will Smith that will forever live in Oscar lore. Too bad only a handful of people even knew what that meant.

More importantly how good did Freida Pinto look last night. And for those celebrities that didn’t get invited by the Academy, most went to Elton John’s  party. Eva Longoria, Victoria Beckham, Katie Price and Carrie Underwood were just a couple names that showed up.

ESPN has nothing on WECT in Wilmington, NC

white-board

Improvising on live TV is something that happens all the time. But this is genius. I will let an email from Justin sum it up.

“Last night  the sports department at WECT-TV got ready to do their sportscast, when their entire system crashed and they had no video or graphics. Instead they were forced to use a dry erase board.”

Way to make due with what you have. “SCOREBOARD PLEASE!”

Since I don’t think the embed code works, you are forced to click through and see it here. It is well worth it. Update: We got the video embed to sorta work, but if you don’t see it, click through to their site.

Nate Robinson dunks over Biff Henderson

Posted on 20 February 2009 by King Ing

Winning the Slam Dunk competition usually gets you a trophy and some cash. But if you are part of the New York Knicks it gets you some time on the David Letterman Show. I think Nate Robinson showed the world just how charismatic he can be. And of course my favorite part is when he decided to slam one home over Biff Henderson.

Just one time I would like to see balls to face.

Adriano has a slamming birthday party

adriano

While most athletes have their birthday celebrations at a nightclub surrounded by beautiful women and hundreds of people they don’t know; Inter Milan striker Adriano has an even better one with his teammates.

“Captain Javier Zanetti fired up the barbecue after training to celebrate Adriano’s birthday, with Argentine BBQ specialists Nicolas Burdisso and Walter Samuel on hand to grill the meat.”

Who doesn’t love some Asado Argentino. I would take a good cut of meat with chimichurri sauce anyday.

The Birthday Cake is awesome!

Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard are showstoppers

Posted on 19 February 2009 by King Ing

Golden St had the Lakers against the ropes last night, but the NBA Finalists showed the country just how hard it will be to take them out this year. Kobe Bryant was his usual spectacular offensive self, even with Stephen Jackson playing tremendous defense on him. But the highlight of the night came from Bryant on the other end of the floor were he had two sick blocks on Anthony Randolph and Corey Maggette.

Even though the Magic got crushed by the Hornets last night, Dwight Howard managed to catch a sick alley-oop dunk over Hilton Armstrong and Chris Paul.

Girls Aloud and Abigail Clancy pretty up the Brit Awards

Posted on 19 February 2009 by King Ing

The Brit Awards were last night and a couple of WAG-tastic ladies took home some hardware. Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle along with the rest of the wildly popular group, Girls Aloud won for best single. They decided to celebrate with their significant others Ashley Cole and Jason Bell at the Universal Party.

Abi Clacy was also in attendance sans her Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch. Which is probably all for the better.
