Dikshit pleads guilty, but his legacy of porn banners lives on

California Correspondent December 17, 2008 0

206x278chickAnurag Dikshit, a majority owner of PartyPoker, pleaded guilty today to violating the Wire Act of 1961, an act that seems just as out dated as it’s name implies. As a result, Dikshit is paying over $300 million to the US Govt. That’s just pocket change for Dikshit, who was reportedly worth over $1.6B in 2007.

In addition to creating one of the first major online poker sites, Dikshit is a true innovator of the half-poker/half-porn banner ad, as pictured to the left. Without Dikshit’s acute marketing skill, we Interweb users would be without these scantily clad women advertising the poker sites that they don’t play on.

Perhaps it is even these naked poker ads that are responsible for spawning the careers of online poker celebrities including Mike Matusow, Jimmy Fricke, and possibly even MattSuspect and CTKen.
