Against the Spread (Week 15 Pt. 2)

DeGags December 14, 2008 1

I have got a few good picks for my loyal readers ( i dare not substitute in the term “fans”)

We begin with Detroit +17 at Indy. It has been a dismal year for the motor city. Some experts called for the Lions to place 1st in the NFC north. The price of gas killed the city’s auto industry and yesterday the Senate killed their last hope. Indy is not the same team that defeated the Bears on a cold January night in 2007. They blew out Cincy and Baltimore, but I am not feeling a blow out this weekend. I think Detroit will put up a fight and keep it within the Vegas line. I’m taking 1 unit Detroit +17 over Indy ATS.

San Diego -5.5 at KC. It’s not so much that I like SD as much as I have no faith in KC. The Chargers can beat any team in the NFL on any given Sunday, I can’t say the same for the Chiefs. SD is quite capable of winning this game, and I am anticipating a 10 point margin of victory. KC is too weak, even at home to muster up my confidence. I’m taking 1 Unit San Diego -5.5 over KC.

Seattle -2.5 at St. Louis. Seattle played wll last week against the Patriots, they dominated for 3 quarters and 8 minutes. Then Matt Cassel looked very Bradyesque as he took his team down the field to come from behind and pull it off. Look, the Seahawks stink this year, but I think they’re better than the lowly Rams, and certainly capable of winning this game. The margin is low enough to entice me to go long Seattle here.
1 Unit Seattle -2.5 over St. Louis.

New England -7.5 at Oakland. I really like this Patriot team, even w/o Brady. I like them enough to go back to the Super Bowl if Cassel can get his game on. Oakland is a deflated team. They have no balance and will have great difficulty repelling all of the Patriots weapons and even greater difficulty scoring against that defense. I take 9 units Patriots over the Raiders S/U -300. (9 units to win 3)

NY Giants +3 at Dallas. I called it last week, the Philly upset over the Giants in NJ thanks to the Plaxico nonsense. Well I see it as clear this week. Dallas has it’s own nonsense to contend with, and Tom Coughlin has his receiver unit primed to go at it without PB. I’m all over the Giants this week, and I’m all over an duel offensive explosion. I have 6 Units G-Men +3 over the Cowgirls ATS and 4 units Over +45.

Browns +14 at Philly. Nobody is going to like this pick, but Cleveland is 10-5 ATS when they are underdogs by greater than 10.5 points, they are 2-0 ATS against Philly. There is no doubt in my mind that Philly wins this game, but I am skeptical of the 14 point spread. Even with a deflated Browns team entering a hostile Philly for a Monday night game. The Browns have no shot at winning this game, but they do have a shot at covering the spead. Combo teaser time, buying myself 7 points on the parlay. 7 units on Cleveland +21 and the under 46. -140 (FYI if you can find someone to take a S/U and give you Philly at -500 to -600; bet the damn ranch!)

Good luck!!

Record 27-26 (+3.4 Units)
