The Red Sox scored 10 runs in the first inning against Texas Rangers starter Scott Feldman last night at Fenway Park in Boston. David Ortiz, rested from a day off Monday, had two three-run homers. Both in the first inning.
You might’ve thought they were piling on when they scored two more third, but you’d be wrong.
The Rangers erased the deficit and even led the Sox 16-14, before Kevin Youkilis hit his second home run of the game to give the Sox the lead for good in the eighth inning.
A pitching staff that can’t hold a 10-run lead at home? Not the stuff that inspires confidence among Red Sox fans thinking about the playoffs.
