The United States Masked Marauders

With the Olympics starting in just a few days, US cyclicsts have been spotted rolling into Beijing sporting specially designed surgical-type masks to protect them from the air pollution.
These masks raise three questions for me:
- Don’t the masks bring back fears of SARS for the locals?
- What do Chinese bank robbers wear?
- And finally, haven’t these athletes ever trained in Los Angeles?
