Correction: Tour de France crashes not boring
July 19, 2008 – 3:23 pm by California CorrespondentEarlier this week I predicted this week’s stages of the Tour de France would be rather dull. I reached this conclusion because the courses were flat and didn’t lend to someone overtaking the yellow jersey.
What I forgot to mention is that the Tour de France flat stages are sorta like Nascar — a crazy crash makes it worth watching, and man was there a crazy crash on Friday.
Sven Krauss, a 25-year old German rider collided with a road sign with 10km to the finish. Krauss’ bike was split in half by the impact, and Krauss amazingly walked away and finished the race on a new bike. I can’t believe this guy wasn’t seriously injured.
