Sergei Shmolik was drinking on the job

July 10, 2008 – 9:09 am by King Ing

Sergei Shmolik was escorted off the pitch with what looked like back pain at the end of Saturday’s match between Vitebsk and Naftan in a Belarus league match. Only, later to find out he had high levels of alcohol in his body.

“The stadium crowd were stunned by Shmolik’s peculiar behaviour. The referee was hardly moving by the end of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, as he officiated the game from the centre circle, refusing to go to his pocket for any cards throughout.”

  13. Yes – and they play a less tactically sophisticated version of netball. And in most of their sports they have to go off for a rest every five minutes. Ice Hockey is pretty tough though.
