Shea It Ain’t So

Justin July 8, 2008 1

Yankee Stadium is getting a lot of publicity these days, with good reason. The House that Ruth Built is in its last season, and will host the All Star Game next week. It is undoubtedly home to the most historically significant moments of any sports arena in the country, and possibly the world. It’s also the place where I experienced a number of my most treasured childhood memories.

But it’s not the only game in town. With all the hoopla surrounding the big ball yard in the Bronx, the city’s other baseball stadium is getting ignored. Well, no more. Courtesy of 200 Miles from the Citi, Shea gets its day.

I wish I had good memories of Shea, mostly fear. Fear of accidentally ingesting the orange paint that encrusted the hand rails painted a million times and asbestos in the bathrooms.

Although Bruce was a good time there
