Back to Boston

Lakers 103 Celtics 98 – The games between the Lakers and Celtics are becoming old habit. One team will jump out to the lead while the other one will furiously come back to make it a game. Game 5 was no different. LA jumped out to 17 and 14 point leads, and both times let Boston tie or take the lead. The difference this game would be the Lakers would hold on to move the series back to Beantown. With the season on the line, Kobe Bryant (25 pts) made the play that eventually saved the Lakers. LA was up two with less that a minute to go, Paul Pierce drove to the basket and Kobe knocked the ball from behind to Lamar Odom who then passed back to Bryant for a breakaway slam dunk.

The reigning MVP got the much needed help from his supporting cast this game. Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom combined for 39 points, 24 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 blocks. This time it was Paul Pierce (38 pts) the one looking for help. He single handedly kept the Celtics within striking distance. KG was burdened with foul trouble throughout the game, Posey only had 3 points, and Leon Powe filling in for the injured Kendrick Perkins put up gooseggs across the board except for 2 rebounds. Game 6 is Tuesday night and I look for the Boston faithful to pull the Celtics to their 17th championship banner.
