Euro 2008: Spain wins on the field, but Russia drinks them under the table

California Correspondent June 11, 2008 0

Empty VodkaI watched yesterday’s Spain v. Russia match in a small Russian town in the Ukraine. I was the only American watching the game with 4 guys from Moscow and 1 from Belarus. You of course know who they were all cheering for.

Spain dominated the entire match, sending the Russians home with a 4-1 loss. While the group I was with was deeply disappointed, it wasn’t an unexpected loss (however, they had hoped for a closer game, like a 2-1 or 1-0 loss).

After Spain went up 2-0, the Ruskis increased their consumption of Vodka and Whisky. This photo is what things looked like after the final whistle.
