Bet of the day 6/5

I, like many of my friends enjoy gambling. It ranges from games of acey-deucey at a BBQ to the pit games in a casino. One thing that is easy (you don’t actually have to watch) and enjoyable is wagering on sports. With this continuing post, I will pick one game a day. With the side being no better than -130. All sports are open and we will keep a running tally of how well or how poorly I do.

Josh Beckett and the bullpen did the job for me last night as the Red Sox won 5-1.

Today’s Pick: Phillies RL (-1.5) -110

The Phillies got shutout last night against Edinson Volquez, but I look for a turnaround from one of the top scoring teams in the majors. They face Homer Bailey, a call up from Triple-A Louisville. Philly faced him last year on June 26, and he was pounded for six runs and six hits in 1 2-3 innings in an 11-4 loss at Citizens Bank Park. I look for the same thing to happen this afternoon with Chase Utley leading the way. Cole Hammels (wife pictured) who has been struggling of late should come back with a strong outing as he has always fared well against the Reds. In his only start against Cincinnati this season, Hamels allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings of a 5-3 victory. He is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA in three career starts versus the Reds, striking out 26 in 21 innings.

Overall Record: $120 (2-1)
