This team was the best team of the 2004 campaign but lost on a late goal by the eventual winners Greece. With Nedved gone and Rosicky out, they will have to rely on lesser known talent. But let’s not forget their very good goalie Petr Cech who did well all they way through to the Champion’s League Final. The big man Jan Koller is still a threat. But we need to see what will happen between the goalie and attacker to see how this team will pull together.
I know I know. Ronaldo Ronaldo Ronaldo. BUT has anyone heard of Ricardo Quaresma? He’s the sleeper. And he doesn’t have the world attention that Ronaldo does, allowing him tension free playing time. AND this team has Deco and Ricardo Carvalho. This team went to the finals in ’04 and semis in ’06.
Great defense with no idea how to score goals. And they play dirty which surprises me because Swiss are known for being neutral. They can be a surprise team and will be backed by the home field advantage. Philippe Senderos is a good defender. But who will do the attacking?
Strong players with a lot of talent. Great experienced coach Terim has a promising roster including a young 21 year old left winger, by the name of Mevlut Erdinc who is quite impressive. Surprise team
King Ing Predictions: Portugal should advance and win this group with ease. The second place team could be decided in the opening game between the home country Switzerland and the Czech Republic. I believe behind Petr ÄŒech’s goalkeeping and their veteran leadership, “The Locomotive” will have enough to get them to the quarterfinals.
