Manny being Manny, or Sprewell, depending on your view.

Posted on 30 June 2008 by Gino Vaginelli

Not long ago Manny Ramirez seemed like a good guy for attempting to slap the goatee off the face of fellow teammate and bear Kevin Youkilis in the Red Sox dugout. In typical fashion the incident was squashed and said to be nothing but a “misunderstanding”. Now Manny is in hot water again, at least by the press, for assaulting the teams traveling secretary Jack McCormick for being unable to furnish him with 16 tickets to the Red Sox game vs the Astros.

Just the other day Astros starter Shawn Chacon was released by the Astros for choking GM Ed Wade in the clubhouse in an altercation over Chacon’s demotion to the bullpen. So what’s the deal with the Red Sox and their lack of discipline with “Manny being Manny”? How many times is he going to act out before they actually put their foot down and stop enabling him. James Sheilds vs BoSox, Round 2

Posted on 30 June 2008 by California Correspondent

Coco Crisp FightTonight James Sheilds takes the field in Tampa Bay as the Rays and Red Sox duke it out for first place in the AL East. Will Shields further retaliate again Coco Crisp and the Red Sox? Did anyone give Shields a good slap in the face during last month’s pile-on at Fenway? If so, watch out for Shields to get ejected if he comes even remotely close to hitting a batter.

The game starts at 7:10pm Eastern, but isn’t televised (unless maybe you live in Tampa Bay or Boston) – so better tune it at MLB.tv.

I guess he isn’t wearing a cup

There were a couple of shots to the family jewels during soccer games yesterday. The first ball shot was on a David Beckham cross that hit Luciano Emilio right where you don’t want to be hit. Amazingly he just sprayed some cold water on his hot nuts and everything seemed to be OK. That doesn’t ever work for me.

Big Daddy Driver should be in everyone’s bag

Posted on 30 June 2008 by King Ing

If you don’t have the Big Daddy Driver, you might want to get one for your golf bag. I am looking at you Smokestack! This club might look like an ordinary driver, but it has a little secret. There is a built in weed whacker that will cut the grass for you in a bad lie. Very clever, although I am pretty sure the course maintenance crew will not think it is funny. So why not go out and buy one, you can impress your friends. As you might already know, I don’t need one as I am a scratch golfer.

Chicago Cubs and White Sox fans unite like Voltron

Posted on 30 June 2008 by King Ing

Fights in the stands are an everyday occurrence. But having White Sox and Cubs fans fight in unison is something to behold. BustedCoverage has video and the background of a beating one man took at a game over the weekend.

The Sox fan near the pole was talking trash from the beginning, so in the 4th inning he started talking about the guy in the Thome Jersey’s “family”…then an old guy stepped up and off they went…A good minute goes by with no security, the guy gets owned by a bunch of cubs and sox fans.

My favorite part is when security handcuffs the guy after he continues to resist and pulled his shirt over his face so he can’t see anything.

Manny Ramirez wants his tickets now

Posted on 30 June 2008 by King Ing

Manny Ramirez has always been known for his silly antics, but this time he crossed the line. He shoved Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick to the ground in an argument over his ticket allotment. Manny asked for 16 tickets the day of the game and when McCormick told Ramirez he might not be able to get them all, Manny responded with a,

“Just do your job!”

It is said that the two met behind closed doors and Ramirez apologized for his actions. I find it hard that the Red Sox don’t discipline the All Star outfielder for this. If it was any of us pushing a coworker to the ground, there would be definite repercussions. Just ask Shawn Chacon. Well maybe that is the difference, a future first ballot Hall of Famer vs a career journeyman. I guess winning is everything!

So you are telling me I can’t stand at the game?

Posted on 30 June 2008 by King Ing

ProFootballTalk breaks the news that the Kansas City Chiefs have a number that you can text if you have a complaint about another fan during the game. Well that makes sense, especially if you see someone drunk, fighting or continually using obscene language; but is it really necessary if you see this happen

“Standing and/or obstructing the view of other fans”

Basically you are telling me that the Kansas City Chiefs discourage me getting off my backside and cheering during a big play? So who is going to root for Brodie Croyle completing a 5 yard out route to Dwayne Bowe? My foam finger can only do so much. Suck it KC, thats why you will never have a good sports franchise with management making decisions like this. But you do have some good barbecue!

Ryan Howard to break single season strikeout record (again)

Posted on 29 June 2008 by California Correspondent

Ryan Howard Strikeout KingIn 2007 Ryan Howard set the MLB single season strikeout record with 199 strikeouts. After just 82 games in 2008, Howard already has 113 strikeouts and is on pace to exceed the record he set last year. If my arithmetic is correct, at his current clip he could end up with a whopping 223 strikeouts at the end of the 2008 season.

What’s fascinating is how consistent Howard is in striking out. He has 55 strikeouts playing at home and 58 playing away. He had 38 in March, 40 in May, and 35 so far in June. And he has 57 vs righties and 56 vs lefties. He’s also more likely to strikeout than to get a hit or get on base. For example, his batting average is a measly .215, his OBP is only .311, but his strikeout average is .368.

Wouldn’t you expect the strikeout king to be concerned? Ryan Howard recently said, “It’s basically the same thing as making a groundout. It’s an out, you know? You want to make as much contact and put the ball in play as much as possible, but it’s part of the game.”

Nothing is better than miserable New Yorkers

Posted on 27 June 2008 by King Ing

I love the fact that most Knicks fans have not watched Danilo Gallinari play, but already boo the crap out of him. Why do we always have to assume he is a soft whitey? Oh, it’s because he is a soft white Euro. Maybe New York fans will come around. I mean if you could love Chris Dudley, you can love the “Big Cock.” Although I do give fans credit for last night. No better way to stick it to the Euro than chant “USA, USA;” especially with the value of our dollar going down faster than Jenna Haze!

Ana Ivanovic made me sad

Posted on 27 June 2008 by King Ing

Ana Ivanovic was upset by China’s Zheng Jie, 6-1 and 6-4 in the third round of Wimbledon. No Ana, no Maria Sharapova, and no Brooklyn Decker means no more tennis for me. SAD, so SAD!
