Pistons 94 Celtics 75 – When you shoot 31% from the field, you rarely ever have a shot to win a game: let alone a Eastern Conference Finals game. So when the Celtics stayed within striking distance by getting to the free throw line you had to be amazed. Numerous times Boston cut the lead down to 4 or 5, but could never get over the hump.
Fortunately for the Pistons, they had Antonio McDyess (21 pts 16 reb). With their back against the walls, the only player in the starting five without a championship led the charge. Detroit jumped out quickly to a 10-0 lead (McDyess had 8). And with feisty defense, the Pistons trademark played throughout the game they controlled the rhythm and tempo. They waned to give up no easy baskets and force the Celtics to make free throws. The heavily relied on Big 3 for Boston struggled only scoring 43 points. That will not get it done. It now is a best of three series with the pivotal game 5 on Wednesday night.
