Celtics 99 Hawks 65 – Celtics were up 11 after 1, 18 at the half, and 36 after 3 quarters. Led by Kevin Garnett (18 pts 11 reb) and The Truth (22 pts) the Celtics ran the young Hawks out of the building. With the outcome basically decided, the game turned chippy. Marvin Williams took out Rajon Rondo in the air on a breakaway and KG set a hard screen on Zaza Pachulia late in the third. Only Jeff Van Gundy, with his quirky one liners could keep me tuned in. The Hawks put up a valiant fight, but the veteran Celtics advance to face Lebron in the second round.
Lakers 109 Jazz 98 – Kobe Bryant celebrated his winning of the MVP award by putting up 38 points on Utah. Combined with Pau Gasol (18 pts 10 reb) and Derek Fisher’s defense on Deron Williams, the Lakers were able to take a 1-0 series lead.
